Roz Cordner

Diocesan Director of Education

Roz joined the School Effectiveness team as Primary Adviser in 2015 having served as a headteacher in one of the primary schools in the Diocese for just over ten years.  During this period Roz worked as a Local Leader of Education in Merton and Lewisham.  Prior to that she taught in church and community schools in Durham for four years.  Roz came to teaching late in life having worked as a Civil Servant for the Department of Employment in Poplar and Stepney followed by a role working for a Quaker Charity in Bromley-by-Bow.

As part of the school effectiveness team, Roz led training for schools and governors,  supported schools in their self-evaluation and worked closely with local authorities on school reviews. All of our advisers support the recruitment of, and induction for headteachers and deputy heads. Within her role, she was responsible for overseeing the work of the Diocesan School Improvement Partners and, alongside colleagues, ensure that schools were up to date with national initiatives. As with all members of the team, Roz promotes the Christian distinctiveness of our schools.

Roz became Diocesan Director of Education in March 2021.
