Collective Worship is central to the effectiveness of Church of England schools, reinforcing and nourishing their Christian distinctiveness and embedding their Christian vision. The SDBE advises schools to support them in ensuring this legal requirement is Christian in nature, reflects Anglican traditions and that it is at the heart of school life. Advisers will help schools to enable high-quality, impactful Collective Worship which deepens pupils’ and adults’ understanding of Christian values, develops spiritual flourishing and is aligned to ‘Inclusive Invitational Inspiring’, the guidance document on Collective Worship in Church of England schools. Our offer includes:
- Advice, training and development on Collective Worship for staff and governors
- Provide Collective Worship support and materials
- Opportunities for worship beyond the school, e.g. The Bishop of Southwark’s Lent Call and Diocesan primary schools’ Leavers’ Services
- Showcase exemplary provision of Collective Worship
