Safeguarding at the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education

We are deeply committed to promoting the highest standards of safeguarding across all our Church schools. While local authorities hold the statutory responsibility for safeguarding, we play a vital role in supporting schools to build and maintain safe, nurturing environments where every child is valued and protected.

We offer ongoing CPD for leaders, governors, and our own team on best practice in safeguarding, with a focus on contextual challenges, reflective leadership, and whole-school culture. In more complex safeguarding situations, our team is available to offer professional advice, a listening ear, and guidance.

By working in partnership with schools, LAs, and other agencies, we aim to help leaders embed safeguarding not just in policy — but in every aspect of school life.
